Dig the substack - as a smaller publisher (i work with Dren Productions) Diamond is the only seat at the table for us. And they have been noticeably better about showcasing our stuff. So we're enjoying the bigger fish in a smallerish pond life at the moment
Hi Brandon - I'm writing as AHOY Comics' freelance operations director. AHOY is still distributed to the book trade by Simon & Schuster; there's been no change in that relationship. Can you tell me in what way AHOY has "disappeared" from the distribution channel? If there's a problem, I'd like to follow it up with S&S. Thank you.
Hey Stuart - I have been following up on this as well, but haven’t received much back in the way of information. The folks at BookManager think there’s some issues with upcoming Pubstock data. But basically, in regards to Ahoy product, everything currently released does still have Simon and Schuster listed as a distributor for your books, but those after only have Ingram listed - and so a had made an assumption. This was brought to my attention by a fellow retailer who thought the distribution might have been a different of rights between Canada and the US.
My intent was to update this article once I got confirmation of SOMEthing, but you’re essentially the first to get back to me with something solid. I’ll be making an addition to the piece promptly as a result. Thank you!
That's odd, though a little over my head. I'll have the person at AHOY who deals with S&S look into it. Thanks for the info; would appreciate the update as soon as possible, so false rumors don't spread.
The update (of what I know so far) is in the article now - and I'll include it and any further info I come across in my next post here so the folks who just read the e-mails will get it. If you DO get a solid update (and my guess is, you will before I will), please feel free to e-mail me at theindirectmarket-at-substack-dot-com and it will get to my proper e-mail.
Well... still POTENTIALLY a Canada issue. 😅 I’d personally rather be getting Ahoy collections through S&SCanada and hoping it is just a data error at this point.

What is the most common argument/rationalization retailers have for continuing to order their Marvel books from Diamond?

(Also: big fan of your work over the years!)
Appreciate that—ah, I see it's a Canada issue. Will pass that along. By the way, really enjoyed the article otherwise.
